Hospitals:

The RM is served by hospitals in Minnedosa, Erickson and Shoal Lake. Currently, due to doctor shortages, there is no emergency service at the Erickson Hospital.

Water Supply:

Newdale is supplied with water by a number of private wells. The water is very soft and has a high mineral content. Wells are generally dug from 250 to 300 feet (76-90 meter) deep. Sandy Lake is service by two deep wells, a main and an alternate, about 160 feet deep. The water quality is good. Many residents have their own water softeners. Two tests are sent to Winnipeg each month to ensure that the water is up to standard. Peak consumption in the summer is 30,000 gallons a day; in winter it is half this amount. Water pressure through the town lines is between 40 and 60 pounds. Sewage System: Newdale and Sandy Lake residential areas are served by sewage systems. Sandy Lake cottage areas and rural farm yards are septic tank areas. a new cottage/home subdivision on Harrison Bay has sewer and water. There are lift stations in both Sandy Lake and Newdale for treatment.

Realty:

Generally houses are more expensive in Sandy Lake due to the existence of the lake, however, the market throughout the whole municipality is good, with reasonable prices. Rental property is scarce: Building Statistics for the Municipality (1999)

SCHOOLS:

Sandy Lake students are bused to Erickson for their education. There is an elementary school and a high school which are part of the Rolling River School Division. Newdale students are bused to the Strathclair Community School, which is an elementary to Grade 12 school in the Park West School Division. There are also some students (south eastern part of municipality) which attend the elementary or high school in Minnedosa, which are also part of Rolling River School Division.
